The Archbishop Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan at St. Peter

His Eminence Archbishop Mor Clemis Kaplan paid a pastoral visit on Sunday, March 27th to St. Peter Church in Glendora, CA. His Eminence conducted the Divine Liturgy with many faithful in attendance. In the sermon, which was in 3 languages: Syriac, English, and Arabic, His Eminence spoke about the Canaanite Woman. He expressed the following, "We find in her story that the mission of Jesus our Lord extended to the Gentiles. The Syro-Phoenician woman representing the Church of gentiles, on behalf of her children asked the Lord to heal them from the paganism (worshipping of Satan), because her daughter was suffering terribly from devil. Jesus in His action was simply telling the woman that Jews were to have the first opportunity to accept Him as the Messiah, because God wanted them to present the message of salvation to the rest nations of the world, and through them the world will accept the salvation."

Following the Liturgy, His Eminence was welcomed in the hall with the chanting of the deacons and a luncheon. There was also a special occasion for the Sunday School, a Happy Birthday celebration for three of their students: Elie Maratee, Nour Wardeh, and Alexandra Arik. May God bless them all. His Eminence prayed Aboon Dbashmayo with the children and then everyone sang the birthday song to all 3 students. Children enjoyed pizza, cupcakes, and refreshments in the birthday celebrations. We would like to thank the families for the treats.

St. Peter Church extends its gratitude to His Eminence Archbishop Mor Clemis Kaplan for his pastoral visit, and asks our Lord Almighty to grant him health and happiness.

قام نيافة الحبر الجليل مار إقليميس أوكين يوم الاحد 27 آذار 2011 بزيارة الى كنيسة مار بطرس للاطمئنان على مسيرة إيجاد كنيسة تجمع أبناء الرعية، وبالمناسبة احتفل نيافته بإقامة الذبيحة الالهية تخدمه جوقة المرتلات والشمامسة، وحضر القداس جمهورٌ من المؤمنين الذين جاؤوا ليستمعوا الى كلمات راعيهم الذي يسهر على أمورهم وأمور كافة الكنائس في الأبرشية، ويهمه ويعمل لتكون النجاحات متوافرة دوما.

ولقد تحدث نيافته في موعظته التي جاءت بالعربية والانكليزية والسريانية المحكية وشرح نيافته بسلاسةٍ وبتفسيراتٍ لاهوتية قصة المرأة الكنعانية، ثم تقدم المؤمنون لتناول القربان المقدس.

وبنهاية القداس اشترك الجميع في قاعة الكنيسة باستقبال راعيهم الذي جاء لتفقدهم. ولقد احتفل المؤمنون بثلاثة اطفال يحتفلون باعياد ميلادهم وهم: ايلي ماراتي، نور ورده و الكسندرا اريك ولقد باركهم نيافته وصلوا معه الصلاة الربانية بين فرح الاهل وزغاريدهم. وهنا غادر نيافته المؤمنين بين فرحهم وادعيتهم لحفظه داعيا لهذه الرعية الفتية التوفيق في ايجاد الكنيسة المناسبة لتجمعهم وليقدوا صلواتهم فيها.

The Western Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the Syriac Orthodox community, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization comprised of 10 churches and parishes in 17 western states. It was established in 1952 as the Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church encompassing the entire United States and Canada. In November 1995 by the Holy Synod, the Western Archdiocese was formed to exclusively serve the 17 states of the western half United States.
