Syriac Orthodox Church News:

March,20 2020
I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow.
Obviously, we have no way of knowing what our future will be; however, as Christians, we know the one who knows--God.

We should not worry about the future because our times are in His hands (Psalm 31:15). In other words, God will give you what you need when you need it. But you must be with God the source of your li...More

Good morning!

The coronavirus is causing acute health, financial, and economic consequences across the state and country. Public sector unions -- never ones to let a crisis go to waste -- will likely try to capitalize on this turmoil to pass measures to shore up their finances and grow the size of government. It is during these unique times that limited government supporters must be even more prepared than usual t...More

A Psalm of David 103.
Bless the LORD, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:

Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed lik...More

Dear beloved sisters and brothers in Christ,
Fear Not
Let us pray together for one another, for our loved ones, infected humanity in these testing times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We believe that our God is God of life, justice, and peace. He is our creator, our savior, and our life-giver. To pray to God of life means that we as a sacred body of Christ -the source of life-, church, together with st...More

Fasting in the Syriac Orthodox Church Of Antioch
Fasting is abstinence from eating food for a certain time of the day, after which a fasting person eats a light meal. It is a divine virtue by which the spiritual eye of the souls is enlightened to witness her Creator spiritually. It will get rid of fattened foods, which dim its eyes and insight and divert all her thoughts toward foods. Drinks, entert...More

More

Preparing for Lent - Physically & Spiritually

As we approach the Great Lent which is the 3rd Cycle in the Church Calendar, it is known as The Cycle of Forgiveness. It is a time of abstinence, refraining oneself from indulging in things. One may relate it to not eating meat or having dairy. However, preparing for Lent is one of the most important journeys, it is a time to self evaluate ourselves in our calling as a...More

Christians are supposed to be the light of the world, but you can't be a light if you're not plugged in.
Our Lord Jesus calls us, His disciples, the light of the world: You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same w...More
