Mor Oqoq (Acacius) bishop of Amid (Diyarbakir), April 17

Mor Oqoq (Acacius) Metropolitan of Amid (Diyarbakir) (+421)

Mor Acacius also known as Agace, died after 421.

Bishop Acacius of Amida (Diyarbakir) in Modern Turkey is distinguished for his heroic charity to Persian prisoners. In order to ransom them, Acacius melted down and sold the sacred vessels of the church. This won for him the friendship of King Bahram V (Varannes) of Persia, who is said to have forthwith ceased to persecute his Christian subjects.
