Meeting of the Patriarchs of Antioch in Mor Aphrem Monastery

June,19 2015

On June 13, 2015, His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II invited the Patriarchs of Antioch to attend a meeting alongside the Holy Synod, in Mor Aphrem Monastery in Maarat Saidnaya, Damascus.

Their Beatitudes Patriarch John X, Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan and Gregorius III Lahham arrived at Maarat Saidnaya and were welcomed at St. Peter and St. Paul Cathedral.

They led together an ecumenical prayer where they prayed for peace in Syria and the safe return of the two abducted archbishops of Aleppo Mor Gregorius Youhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yaziji. They also prayed for the unity of Churches hoping that the Churches of Antioch can live together a unified witness to Christ in this region.

Then, His Holiness and their Beatitudes the Patriarchs as well as the Archbishops members of the Holy Synod and the guest bishops met to discuss the important issues pertaining to the Christian presence in the Middle East.
