The Reverend Fr. Zuhri Khazaal laid to eternal rest

"Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord." ‭‭(Matthew 25: 21)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

With great sorrow, we received the news of the Very Rev. Fr. Zuhri Khazaal's departure from this temporary world to eternal life. He was an active servant who loved the church and service, was characterized by wisdom, and worked hard to serve all people of all groups and sects. His parishioners who loved and served the days of calamities mourned his departure. He worked side by side as an assistant to the late His Eminence Mor Silwanos Boutros Al-Nama, then with his successor, His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury

The Archdiocese of the Western States of the USA, Metropolitan, Clergy, and institutions extend its deepest condolences to His Eminence Mor Timothy Matta Al-Khoury, Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of Homs, Hama, Tartous, the Clergy, and all members of the family and relatives of the late Reverend Zuhri Khazal. May the Lord reward him and make his share with the faithful servants who traded the priestly talents with all honesty.

May God bless his spirit with eternal life.

"قَدْ جَاهَدْتُ ٱلْجِهَادَ ٱلْحَسَنَ، أَكْمَلْتُ ٱلسَّعْيَ، حَفِظْتُ ٱلْإِيمَانَ، ٨ وَأَخِيرًا قَدْ وُضِعَ لِي إِكْلِيلُ ٱلْبِرِّ، ٱلَّذِي يَهَبُهُ لِي فِي ذَلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ، ٱلرَّبُّ ٱلدَّيَّانُ ٱلْعَادِلُ، وَلَيْسَ لِي فَقَطْ، بَلْ لِجَمِيعِ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَ ظُهُورَهُ أَيْضًا". (2 تيمو 4: 7).

بمزيد من الأسى، تلقينا نبأ انتقال الخوري الفاضل زهري خزعل من هذا عالم الفناء الى عالم البقاء اثر مرضٍ عضال ألمَّ به ولم يمهله طويلاً. فقد كان خادماً نشيطًا يحبّ الكنيسة والخدمة، ويتّصف بالحكمة ويعمل جاهدًا لخدمة جميع الناس من كلّ الفئات والأطياف. فبرحيله بكته رعيته التي أحبته وأحبها وخدمها بإخلاص مالاً وطعاماً وتعزيةً أيام الملمات والمجاعة فكان الاخ والصديق للجميع بدون استثناء. وعمل جنباً الى جنب معاوناً للمثلث الرحمات مار سلوانس بطرس النعمة، ثم مع خليفته صاحب النيافة مار تيموثاوس متى الخوري.

أبرشية الولايات الغربية من الولايات المتحدة الأميركية، مطراناً وإكليروساً ومؤسسات، تتقدّم بأحرّ التعازي من نيافة المطران مار تيموثاوس متى الخوري، مطران أبرشية حمص وحماة وطرطوس وتوابعها، وإكليروس الأبرشية وجميع أفراد عائلة وذوي المرحوم الخوري زهري خزعل. جازاه الرب خيراً وجعل نصيبه مع الخدام الامناء الذين تاجروا بالوزنات الكهنوتية بكل أمانة. ضارعين إلى الله أن يتغمّد روحه برحمته الواسعة عداد أعماله الصالحة ويكافئه مكافأة الوكلاء الأمناء، وأن يبلسم قلوب الجميع بعزاء كلمته المعزّية.
