The Sunday School Program is designed to teach our children about God and our Syriac Orthodox Church beliefs, customs, and rituals.
A. There are currently Three Levels with approved lessons.
1. Level 1 Ages 3-5
2. Level 2 Ages 6-7
3. Level 3 Ages 8-10
The New King James Holy Bible is used for all class levels
St. Ephraim currently has a fourth level which is for students ages 11-14. The Old and New Testament is covered as well as our church history, saints, sacraments, feasts, and Divine Liturgy. This class attends the Divine Liturgy once a month and participates with the other faithful members. Exams and quizzes are administered on a monthly basis in order to monitor the students’ progress.
B. Components of a weekly Lesson: (for Class levels 1-3)
1. Warm-up: 5-10 minutes for students to enjoy an activity which will serve as a Christian moral lesson
2. Bible Time: Readings on the lesson of the day from appropriate Holy Bible for the class level.
3. Calendar Event: Refers to the particular Church event
4. Holy Eucharist Liturgy: Refers to some aspect of the Liturgy so students would learn about the service
C. Additional Material incorporated:
1. Moral Theme
(Love, patience, gratitude, respect, caring, attitude, courtesy, dedication)
2. Hymns
3. Prayers
4. Bible Skills
5. Biblical Games
D. Activities
1. Religious and recreational activities are strongly encouraged
